Designing clothes for two opposite nervous systems

Sensory-friendly clothing has to work for two opposite nervous systems at once. That is the brief.

One person is overloaded. Input arrives faster than they can process it. A seam in the wrong place does not register as minor discomfort. It ends the day. They need clothes that register as little as possible.

Another person is seeking input. Under-stimulated, they settle with more of it. Weight. Pressure. Texture they can actually feel.

A garment designed only for the avoider is nothing to the seeker. One designed only for the seeker is the overload the avoider was trying to escape.

PIA MATER is built around that tension. Where seams sit and which way they face. Whether a label is printed or stitched. How weight is distributed so pressure reads as grounding. Fabric that feels soft to someone avoiding input while giving the seeker something to find.
